## Frequently asked questions

### How do credits work?

Credits are processing hours — one credit indexes one hour of audio or video. On monthly billing you get a fresh grant every month: 12 hours on Pro, 40 on Studio. On annual billing you get a bigger pool — 180 hours on Pro, 600 on Studio — granted in one lump on day one. Credits are fungible: they cover one-time historical backfill and ongoing new-episode indexing from the same pool. Anything beyond them bills at a flat $2 per content-hour.

### Why is annual the natural way to start?

Three reasons. You get 2 months free. You get 25% more credits than twelve monthly grants — 180 hours instead of 144 on Pro, 600 instead of 480 on Studio. And the whole pool lands on day one, sized so you can point it straight at your back catalog and clear it immediately. On monthly billing, credits arrive month by month, so a large backfill is billed at $2 per hour instead.

### What does Studio add over Pro?

Capacity first: more than three times the processing credits — enough to run a slate of shows rather than one podcast. Then the layer on top: white-label (your library and MCP endpoint carry only your brand), AI clips in every platform format instead of vertical-only, catalog-wide audience insights and comment analysis as they roll out, higher MCP / API rate limits, and priority support.

### What happens when I hit the Free tier cap?

Free includes 10 hours of processing over the lifetime of the account. At the cap your account goes read-only — you keep and can still search everything you have indexed; you just can’t index more until you upgrade.

### What does the $2 / hour cover?

One flat rate for everything beyond your included credits — historical backfill and new-episode indexing alike. There’s no second rate to reason about. AI clip rendering is the exception: it’s a separate usage-based add-on, in early access.

### Is this just a transcription tool?

No. Transcription is one input. PodHood is discoverability infrastructure: it turns each episode into a structured knowledge graph and publishes it so your catalog can be found by people, cited by answer engines, and queried by AI agents over MCP.

### What’s the difference between custom domain and white-label?

A custom domain (included from Pro) hosts your library at your own address. White-label (Studio) goes further — it removes PodHood’s identity entirely, presenting the library and MCP endpoint under your own brand on your own domain.
